If you are looking for a great LCD computer monitor for your latest computer then you can't go past the Samsung B2240W model. It has a reasonable screen size of 22 inches which can display resolutions up to 1680 pixels wide by 1050 pixels in height.
It only consumes 45 watts of power when fully working and a low 0.3 watts on standby and weighs 5.2kg. Note though that you can set the monitor to turn itself off at preset times to save power. The response time is a low 5ms and it has a typical contrast ratio of 70,000 to 1. The viewing angle on these monitors is very good at 170 degrees. It supports the typical 16.7 million colours.
Plugs and ports support one analog RGB 15 pin socket and one DVI-D socket.
If you intend to sit this monitor on your desk and possibly under a shelf or cupboard, then you will need to ensure that the dimensions of the monitor will suit your work space. This B2240W model is 511mm wide, 394mm high and 220mm in depth with the stand attached and 511mm wide, 338mm high and 68mm in depth without the stand. Although the stand is height adjustable.
A new concept for this monitor is the use of MagicEco which will try to reduce your energy consumption by cleverly and automatically adjusting brightness. This setting allows the LCD monitor to set the brightness at 100%, 75% or 50% levels. There is also another new concept from Samsung called MagicAngle which helps to display very crisp and bold images from any viewing angle.
Another new feature is the custom key control which allows you to set a custom key to control your favourite and most used function such as magic bright, magic colour, colour effect or image size for example. The choice is yours
The only drawback is that it does not come with any built-in speakers.
